Shadow, who is male, black and estimated to be just 9 months’ old, is looking for a forever home.

This kind-natured and affectionate boy arrived into the garden of one of our Foster Carers six weeks’ ago. She had found him sleeping in her shed and realised that he had been surviving by eating food she had been putting out for the birds. Concerned for his welfare, she put a cosy cat bed in the shed and started to leave Shadow his own meals.

Our Carer’s efforts to locate Shadow’s owner through neighbourhood social media has been without success. He knows how to use a cat flap and litter tray and it is likely he had a home at some point. Shadow is now starting to understand how to play and will benefit from a home where his adopter(s) have time to spend building on this new skill.

Shadow had not been microchipped, so our Carer continued to build trust with him until he was regularly going inside the house and she was able to pop him in a carrier for a health check with a Vet. In preparation for re-homing, the Vet arranged for Shadow to be microchipped, neutered and to receive a first vaccination. He was also diagnosed with “floating knees” on his back legs, which he may have always had from birth or it is possible they may have taken a knock at some point. Shadow has a slightly unusual walk, but we are reassured his knees are not giving him pain or stopping him from climbing or jumping in the garden!

So that we are able to offer Shadow a foster home of his own, he will be moving to a new foster location in Staines over the next few days.
